Identifying with the impoverished position of the man Jesus, we recognize that our material possessions are few and without Christ our spiritual resources are null.  It is this recognition that affords us the humility to nurture a welcoming fellowship of people from all cultures - Destitute as our Condition, Desperate as our Community, Despised as our Christ.
